Hello everybody,
I am a Tunisian teacher with a Master degree from a Tunisian university. I'm going to teach English in Abu Dhabi, but I would also like to start with my PhD dissertation. Is that possible in Abu Dhabi ? or the UAE in general ?
Thank you in advance. |

First of all, you should check with your own university about the mechanics of "doing" the research and then writing the dissertation..
As far as data collection is concerned.. well, that may depend on the "database" you intend to use. It may also depend on the bureaucracy of the institution you will be involved in.
I suggest you talk with the institution you will work at AND talk with your Tunisian university.
FWIW, I have known colleagues here who are approaching the dissertation here in the UAE and they are proceeding with little difficulty. Their UK and Canadian universities are OK with their data collection and so is their employer - apparently. |

People I know at HCT who were doing Phds in some areas were not allowed to gather data concerning students but in others they were. I think it depended on the director and the area of study - I believe in one instance where it was refused it was based in social/gender issues in education/employment - apparently the figures weren't in HCT's favour at the time. |
