I've been teaching ESL since 1995, have lived in about a half dozen countries, including Taiwan from 1997-1999. I have a Masters in Education in Curriculum Design and for the last several years have been teaching in the Korean Public School system (EPIK).

I'm considering returning to Taiwan to either teach in public schools or in a university. Can someone give me some general trends in Taiwan today? I'm sure much has changed since the last time I was there. Thanks!

Try www.forumosa.com. There has been a lot of discussion recently about the poor state of salaries and general working conditions in Taiwan these days.

And while you're giving out website recommendations, 773, you may want to take a stroll over to the Korea forums. There, you'll learn about new visa regulations that are making Korea vets look to other locales for work. We have stagnant salaries; they have draconian visa regs. Take your pick.

I have no idea about Korea, nor do I care. The OP asked about Taiwan, and www.forumosa.com is an nformative site that has in-depth and well-rounded discussions on work and living-related topics.

You ought to care. The OP lives in Korea and is subject to its conditions. If you want to make a comment about "poor working conditions," you ought to at least know where the OP is coming from and how the conditions are in that country, compared with the supposedly "poor" ones in this one. It's all about being "nformative" (sic).
