Hi Sliderama,
I wish u also the best, am not sure which city did u applied for. We (in Nizwa) are loosing few teachers. I am hoping to stay, but as u also know all is uncertain right now! However, getting out of Korea is a very good idea, anything after Korea is good in my opinion...LOL. If you need anything contact me at: [email protected].
All the best,
Sylva |

Excuse the overly general queries but I was wondering what are some of the options teachers are talking about? In Oman or Middle East? (I'm really just fishing for other employment ideas )
i think almost anywhere than korea would be better, e.g. china IMO would be a step backwards (btdt), could prbly come up with a few more. i'll limit it to that about korea here, i've been off-topic and scolded before (yipes...) |

I have no idea what your question is here. You have been asking about entry level teaching jobs (for those without MAs?).
Are you fishing for jobs outside of education? I doubt anyone here can help much on that.

let me clarify, i was asking sylva what options (i.e. other Gulf jobs) the CfBT teachers might be pursuing should the contract with MOHE not be renewed. of course i meant "fishing" for other EFL teaching employment opportunities. |

Odd thing happened today and just passing it along. I received a personal email from Bahwan CyberTek going on about how they need 70 ESL teachers for the Govt of Oman. Thing is, I've never had any contact with them, ever. |

To answer Mr. Sliderama's question.
In Oman...several. You may also apply at the headquarters in Muscat office itself. Nizwa, Ibri and Salala.
Saudi Arabia would be another, but most teachers came from Saudi, and swore NEVER again. I think I mentioned, even arabs of Oman would tell you that! no secrets there!!!
Not sure if CfBT has anything in the Emirates, and Qatar, but these two would be worth checking. But as a country to live in and its genuine people, I would say OMAN....
cheers,

I second your opinion about the Omanis. They truly are a kind-hearted people. I've had an Egyptian taxi driver who concurred with my view of the good-natured behaviour of Omanis in general. He also had some not-so-nice things to say about the Saudis. I couldn't comment, having never been to Saudi, other than midway to the border down the Bahrain-Saudi causeway. |

I just refused an offer from Al Nawa HRD & Associates who tried to pressure me into accepting a position at Nizwa College of Tehcnology tho I said I prefer Salalah (I question whether or not they are even hiring for Salalah, they only have 8 hires). They said they had told the Dean at Nizwa I had accepted the offer then told me to please hurry up and accept and sign the offer so there wouldn't be "embarrassment" !!
I suppose this is what happens when one deals with (dubious) recruiters... |
