Can someone please verify.....I'm heading back to America soon (now in Korea) to get my CRC so I can come to Vietnam. I know I might be able to get a job without the CRC but I'd rather have it to be safe. So my question is.....does the CRC have to be valid within 3 months or is 6 months OK? |

I'm sorry....I guess I wrote the message wrong. I didn't mean to ask how long it was valid in Vietnam. I meant to ask.....how recent does it have to be obtained before traveling to Vietnam?? Do I have to get it within 3 months of arriving in VN or can I stretch it to 6 months? Sorry for the confusion |

Believe you will find the following to be correct:
The criminal background check needs to be presented when you apply for your work permit. On the date that you apply for your work permit the criminal background check should not be more than 6 months old. If it is more than 6 months old it should be deemed invalid (but sometimes isn't), even if you haven't been in your home country since the date it was issued.
If you have been in Vietnam for over 6 months when you apply for your work permit then you are also supposed to supply a Vietnamese criminal background check (NB: this doesn't replace the one from your home country, it is in addition), but when you apply for the work permit they don't usually ask how long you have been in country.
In reality I wouldn't worry about the above, just get it and bring it with you or at least apply for it before you come to Vietnam as it can sometimes take a long time to receive. |
