Ok, I'm off to Ireland for a binge of Guinness and craic. On returning, I have a bank holiday weekend before I leave to Mex. I won't be able to get anything achieved then as everything is shut. It's got to all be done before I set a foot on Ryanair.

I think I'm ready but I'm feeling paranoid I've left something out! All those nights of debauchery have left me with poor memory.

Anyone that suggests something I've forgotten gets enough beer to inebriate a fat Scottish dinner lady at the first gathering i go to

Degree and birth cert legalised (doing a CELTA in DF)
Immunisations up to date
Passport all in order
Laptop...getting another memory stick
Books
Camera and electronic bits with correct cables
Reference from last teaching position
Updating CV this week
Me Knickers

If its not all ready on your computer, then I certainly suggest loading at least a bit on there, packing some cds, or loading up your i-pod/mp3 player.

Nothing worse than not having those tunes that make you groove, and feel good, esp. when the best you get here in English (on the radio) is 80's (which I have grown to enjoy Embarassed

), or crap pop.

I colored scanned my passport and emailed to myself in case I ever get into trouble and lose it. At the very least you can always print off another copy to show your embassy later.

Other than that (And I second the music! Definitely! And maybe some wee portable ipod speakers for when your ears get sick of having earbuds shoved into them.), I think you're good to go. Enjoy your Guiness, I am literally salivating right now at the thought of some good dark beer.

I second the motion on your banking. I had problems when I went to England the first time-couldn't access my money at all, despite being assured that it would be fine. I got my mom to sort it for me, but now she's listed on all my accounts and can write cheques to people on my behalf, do my taxes, etc. Of course, you have to trust this person!

Also, get someone to collect your mail for you and open or send on any important bills or notices.

For whoever said 10-12 gets a prize too! I managed 11 pints of guinness on my first day. didn't touch the stuff after that!
