Has anyone on here done this or thought about it?
It is something i have been considering for a while now. i would like to hear from anyone who has experience or who knows someone who has done it.
What are the technicalities one has to go through? How does one officially set up a small business? Any tax isues that i should know?
It is only a thought for now. I know it is risky, you need a constant supply of students, a good location/ system, back up cash but i have found it hard to find concrete info re the legalities.
Any advice/opinions wpould be much appreciated. |

Dude if you do set up your own school and make a success of it you will fully be THE MAN or THE WOMAN! (as the case may be)
GO YOU!
God alone knows what the legalities would be in such a venture I do know for sure that they would all be; in kanji, very involved and in triplicate.
Serious advice:
1) Get yourself a Japanese partner, preferably your spouse.
2) Talk to the nearest foriegn owner of a gaijin bar, I don't know any foriegners who have successfully started an English school.
3) Be VERY clear where your exit point is, X amount of money, sleep, friends lost before you get out. Stick to it.
Good luck, I really mean that.

grampus - I take it from your name that you may be in the Nagoya area. If so, I could put you in touch with a couple of people I know who have been running their schools for quite some time. PM me if you are interested in this. |
