Has anyone heard of this school? It's located in Hermosillo. I'm being considered for a job there. Any information on them would be welcome.

I think this school might be new. I am also being considered for a job there. Their offer is pretty incredible for Mexico (paid housing, return flight, 6 month contract, good pay, and little formality); this sounds "too good to be true." Any additional information would be much appreciated.

Ive not seen them advertise before under either name they use on their website, nor are they listed in the local yellow pages with 37 other English schools there. (You can find listings online). Also, a quick check shows the website was registered in the dot com system to a fellow in the USA 3 years ago, so if they have physically been doing business in Hermosillo (or Utah) for 3 years it shouldnt be too difficult to check them out.

There are some big promises aimed at potential students too, so not just to teachers. You noted "little formality" which should be a small red flag. To teach legally, there is formality and credentials are needed. "Become a Teacher" is the title of the only page in English. Interesting they specify you must speak Spanish and possess a US passport as a job requirement but don't mention credentials.

Seriously.

You mention a 6 month contract which seems odd since they advertise the length of the course as 10 months. (Six months is the maximum length of a tourist visa, incidentally.) I haven't heard of any schools in Mexico who pay for airfares for less than about a 2 year contract. Where are they advertising? Good luck and keep us posted on how you make out.

As of September 2007

Salary: $800 USD monthly (they hold $300 for the first two months to guarantee you stick around then pay you the rest).

Housing: Two houses. House for male teachers and house for female teachers. You share a room with another teacher. House is only couple blocks from school.

EDUCAZ pays airfare to Hermosillo, Mexico.

Teach 30-35 hours per week. Includes Saturday morning classes.

Commitment: 6 months.

Two of those qualities should ring a warning bell as well. You don't need to speak Spanish to be a good teacher and being native is fair enough, but why the hell with a US passport?

This would raise flags for me. I have no problems sharing a house but a room? When do you have any privacy?

So has anyone actually found any real hard evidence as to whether this company is legit or not? All I've found anywhere on the internet is speculations, and speculations on other people's speculations. The reason I ask is because I'm leaving next Monday for Hermosillo to work for them, so I'd like to know.

I got curious, wanted to look at their site, all I did was google and this is the URL that came my way.
http://jobview.monster.co.uk/GetJob.aspx?JobID=70300162&JobTitle=English+Teacher+Supervisor+in+Mexico&q=%22teach+english%22&sort=dt&brd=1&vw=d&AVSDM=2008-03-31+12%3A24%3A00&pg=1&seq=3

Now, I may be crazy, or my eyes may be deceiving me, but they are asking for an English Teacher Supervisor who has high school or equivalent, and it's monster in the U.K.

I'm also a little confused because the heading is Go English, but the company is Educaz???

Hopefully the person who has agreed to work for them starting Monday will report back to the forum after a few weeks and let us know what she discovered. Be prepared for heat, because Hermosillo is an oven in the summer months.

I was talking with a rep from them. I wrote a formal email with some questions about the company, this is how he answered:

> following questions about Go English! and life in Monterrey:
>
> 1.The solicitation says you provide housing. What type of housing is
> provided by the company? WE HAVE A HOUSE FOR GUYS AND A HOUSE FOR GIRLS WHERE ALL OUR TEACHERS LIVE. HOMES ARE A FEW MINUTES AWAY FROM SCHOOL.
>
> 2.The web site says paid travel; is there any more information you can give
> me about this? WE COVER ROUND TRIP TRANSPORTATION--UPFRONT, NOT A REIMBURSMENT
>
> 3.How many hours (on average) per week do the teachers work? 40 HRS Weekends? PART OF YOUR 40 IS A FEW HOURS ON A SAT MORNING
>
> 4.Do the teachers travel around Monterrey, or work out of the office/school? A FEW OF OUR TEACHERS TRAVEL TO BUSINESSES. MOST WORK OUT OF THE SCHOOL.
>
> 5.Can you provide me with contact information of past teachers, so that I
> may get an idea of what life in Monterrey is like? WWW.EDUCAZ.COM/LOCALIDADES.HTML HAS PHONE NUMBERS TO OUR SCHOOLS

> information? I DON'T. SORRY. THE MONEY WE PAY IS PLENTY TO LIVE ON, THOUGH. YOU COULD ALSO TALK TO SOME OF OUR TEACHERS.

He wasn't super helpful. If you do the math it's like 6 bucks an hour.

Did they actually give you contact info, cc227, for the teachers they suggested you talk to? I'm glad you reactivated this thread because I was just looking at it yesterday and wishing that nan0201 would get back to us

Where are you nan0201 when we need you most? How is it working out for you??? (I find it odd that they are looking for the BEST teachers, yet say nothing about experience or training, nor about having their own training program)

It looks like nan0201 posted about her/his experiences over in the Go English thread, if you're curious. Are they the same school?
