Hello to anyone teaching in Malaysia.

I am headed there myself this summer, and would like to know about the cost of living there, the students and the country's general quality of life. Have been going on Malaysia-related websites, of course, but any info. from a colleague on the ground would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Cost of living is moderate-won't cost you much though food prices have gone up a little. It all depends on which area you'd be living in. Is your accommodation provided? Check out http://www.tefl.com/home/col_survey.html?ci_id=89
Students-this depends on where you teach. Most language centres here have a majority of students from S. Korea, Japan, Iran and the Middle East. You'd be ok here. The pace of life is generally slow and relaxed and most of the locals can converse in English.
