Hi Folks,
My wife and I are have received an offer from Tangshan teacher's college to start this february and we would really like to get more information about the school itself or the city of Tangshan.
So far, we have been unable to find any information about Tangshan save for the fact that it was rebuilt from scratch after a massive earthquake in the mid-seventies.
thank you kindly |

I answered you in a different thread; I believe no one has worked in Tangshan so far because it's not Holliwood, Paris or even Peking!
The only sources of info on Tangshan I can recommend are travel guide books such as Lonely Planet or Rough Guides!
What I can add is that since the city had to be rebuilt immediately after 1976, it will be rather ugly, in the usual cubist socialist architecture that is fast disappearing in more livable places of China. |

Well, I guess this might be more of an adventure than I realized at first. On the bright side of things, If we end up going there there will be more information available about the city
If no decent offers lands in my lap from somewhere in Guangdand, I'll keep you all posted. |

An earthquake destroyed the city, didn't it?
Haven't visited it, but heard that there wasn't much worth seeing
there anyway. |

I have been to Tangshan twice. It is a two hour bus ride from Beijing. It is definitely not a beautiful city but the people are very friendly. There are very few foreigners so it is a good place to make Chinese friends and learn the language. |
