Yet another fake IELTS course!
I just forwarded an application for a post of IELTS instructor at an institution I had never heard of previously.
I decided to call them to inquire which of the two IELTS examinations it was for; General English or Academic.
Guess what, they the course providers where unaware that there are indeed two. Next I inquire as to the course duration. Are you ready for a chuckle, 10 hours.
Now, the IDP state that a 30 hour preparation program (examination overview) usually results in a 0.5 increase in students actually test scores (General English paper). Dr. Pauline Tam of CUHK has alternative research that by focusing on general time management and the multiple choice sections a 30 - 40 hour program can obtain a whopping 1.0 increase. I assume the reason for this lays in the preference for multiple choice and guesstimates by chiense students.
So, back to yet another private (Micky Mouse Inc.) whom are not only incompetent as to what they are 'selling' as an educational course, but also wasting the students valuable time.
Suggestion on whom if anyone to raise this matter with? IDP or some government body?

Unless the course offered is registered and approved for the CEF the students will not touch it. That's why that language school closed a few months ago when all the students left and no more signed up when they couldn't claim the CEF any more. |

I suspect this is just a private center doing a quick money earner. When I inquired they said it was a 10 hour course. |

Definitely sounds that way. CEF requires the course contact hours to be alot longer than 10 hours. |
