Dear Sirs and Madames,

I've been hired to teach in China this fall, but in order to get my visa, I need to undergo the official Chinese medical exam (testing for, among other things, "toxicomania.")

The Chinese school persists in the belief that I am currently in the U.S., though I have told them otherwise. They have sent me a Chinese/English health form, but I am less than eager to meander into a random szpital and flap it around in front of a Polish doctor.

Has anyone here made the Poland -> China transition gracefully? If so, how did you go about arranging this little cough-and-turn health checkup?

i have taught in tarnow and am currently in shanghai. the school will likely take you to a chinese doctor upon arrival. it's really no big deal. from soup to nuts it should only take a 45 minutes. they take a bloob sample and check your vitals.
