Just trying to see how many active members are currently living in HCMC and the surrounding cities? Just post anything to confirm that you are.
If there are more than a decent amount, I think it would be cool to organize a small event for everyone to meet the faces behind the handles. I know I would like to meet all of you- I mean, some of you.. Possibly a BBQ or something? I get there mid August, so theres plenty of time for something to get planned out, right?
Anyone think this is a cool idea?

I don't.
Many people can post freely because of their anonymity, here. Schools have been criticized.
I am sure some members are located in HCMC.
Saigonesl is another option if you're looking for info.
Good luck. |

Yeah, that kind of sucks. I'm a huge partaker in online communities such as honda-tech.com (16th largest forum in the world) and we do regional meets all the time. These meets usually consist of BBQs, friendly chats, cruising around, and doing it again every 4-5months. IMO if you aren't doing anything stupid and you're a positive contributer to any forum you should not be hiding your face behind a computer. The people that talk bad towards eachother or are full of lies are the ones that hide their faces (not directed towards you =D)
I mean, are we going to treat this board like we have to keep our identities a secret from one another? We aren't trading child porn here. If anything we are all foreigners who don't speak the language much, don't know what to do (why do u think we're always posting questions), and could use a little help. These kinds of communities should be the closely-knit ones where we help each other out and aren't afraid to show faces. I can't remember where I read that some 60% or more jobs are obtained through friend referral. More friends means more opportunity, learning from your friends *beep*-ups so you don't go through the same and hopefully more money in your pocket. Who doesn't want that?
MOD EDIT
I was thinking small events like this would be a good opportunity to bring this board together and make it a better experience for everyone.
BTW I've already been on Saigon ESL... They have posts from 2003 that are on the front page, that is how active that board is. Great source if ur in need for like a historical archive |
