				| Beware! This point was raised on another country forum but affects UK citizens resident in Indonesia with a student loan.
As from April 1 the income thresholds have been altered "to take account of differences in the cost of living" in other countries. For Brits in Indonesia with a student loan that started after 1 September 1998 the annual threshold is GBP3000.

What this means is that the SLC wants 9% of everything you earn above Rp4.5Jt per month.

 The party is over, chaps.

				| Thanks Malu...
 Bit confusing..

I only just deferred mine and there was no mention of this at all.

It mentions a figure of 15k Sterling for Australia but I earn more than that and it's been deferred.

 Cheers

				| If you started your uni and student loan life before 1998 (as I did woohoo) you don't have to worry about anything. I never intend on paying mine back, I seem to remember they scrap everything I owe when I reach 50 | |

				| if your 1st loan was before 1998 then you have different repayment terms. the only repayment threshold is the UK one i.e. 17000 pounds a year or something ike that | |

				| It all depends on when your first loan was. Mine was '96 so when I went back and borrowed more money this year to do my PGCE, the loan got added to my original contract. | |

				| Note that the new thresholds seem to apply for the year beginning 6 April 2008. Those who deferred their loan recently did so for the 2007/2008 tax year.
The taxi meter is ticking now.
