Cheers for the congrats, avahanian.

I didn't request a specific location with either company, just a large city somewhere in the south. After spending last year in Canada, I didn't want to go to the north and freeze my nuts off again! Wink

If anyone has questions about the interview process for either company, post a message.

Hey Viddy,

If you end up in Fukuoka, that's supposed to be a lot of fun.

But you could have requested Tokyo or Osaka, I don't think they get as cold as anywhere in Canada (other than the Vancouver area) Laughing

I'd really like to know more about the AEON interview process, I've got an interview with them on 5 February

What sort of lesson did you plan? It's been a while since I've taught so it would be great to hear some details of the lesson plan, just to get an idea, since they really liked your lesson plan!

cheers

The link seems to work this time, for some strange reason!

cheers

I just lopped off the last part of the URL link (index.html) in the original link and it worked just fine. Maybe they had done a re-edit of their home page and the 'index' part got lost in the shuffle. Often you just have to play around with these things.

Elementary, my dear Watson.

Try a little game. AEON are very big into conversations (their plan is to have the students speaking 80% of the time in lessons), so something that involves a lot of feedback from them. My lesson involved using picture cards and having them ask and answer questions about it.

I don't think the actual lesson matters a great deal. They want to see whether you have the confidence to teach a group of people, whether you have a clear voice, how you interact with them etc. Make a lesson plan and practice teaching 5 minutes of it.

An update on my problem:

As you know I was offered a position with NOVA. I was originally told to inform them whether I'll be accepting it or not by the 26th, but I managed to get that pushed back to the 28th.

In the meanwhile I sent an email to AEON explaining the situation to them. Luckily they got back to me today and said they'll be offering me a position also.

So I'll be rejecting NOVA's kind offer and heading out there with AEON. Worked out fine in the end! Very Happy
