working out the way that they should be.
As in your boss is a total ass and the local staff keep on making problems for the native teachers.
Furthermore, you were sick for 8 days in a hospital bed, did not receive 1 phone call from your boss to check on you or talk about your work situation. Then the day that you are fit for work he gets someone else to call you 4 hours after your driver never turned upt o get you that you are to stay at home today and he will call you tommorrow. You still feel 75%, haven't talked to your boss and don't know what else is going on.
The only thing keeping me here is that I leave I have to pay back some visa costs but after being sick my whole situation here has changed and my insurance company is offering to fly me home.
Partly I hate my work and boss now, work is like a circus if anything goes right and partly I am fed up and don't know what to do. I just want to leave. |

You could leave, just keep in mind that you won't get a reference from them. |

Well today we resolved things amicably fortunately and they have allowed me to leave. I will have just broken even with the flights over for the time I worked and living.
For future situations people have what jurisdiction does one have if the employer is not playing fair ball and your situation is very untowards
Maybe you can just leave but will they come after you with legal issues?
I would like to think that as a teacher I and others make the effort to travel so far in good faith so this effort should be reciprocated but there seem to be unreasonable people in this teaching business where responsibility only goes so far. |

This game is like most other professions. I had a boss that used to get on my nerves in Indonesia but when I got a bacterial infection into the heart he fell over backwards to help me. In South Korea I've had mostly good bosses. Here in China my first year was great but this year with new management that can't speak English I've had a hell with the local head Chinese English teacher and one worker in the office. I have a new job to start but in August.
Always have some money on the side and a ticket out. Legal stuff here in Asia is a 96% no win game. If you don't have local connections with pull then cut and run.
Most countries in Asia there are no stops on you leaving at the airport so you just change countries and that is the end of anyone chasing you over legals. |
