Yes, that is right. Immigration can only issue visas for full-time work and employers can only sponsor full-time positions. It is different once you have PID, of course. Once you have that you can work part-time. |

I think some employers have found a way around this problem. I know of teachers at HKU SPACE and SCOPE (CityU) who managed to get visas through their employer, even though they aren't technically f/t. |

I have met persons who work part-time while on a work visa sponsored by another (full-time) school. I don't know if that is technically illegal as per Immigration regulations...but it brings in some extra cash for the teachers! |

You CAN get a workvisa for part-time work.
It's the amount of HKD that you earn that will determine whether or not you qualify for a WV.
I know a teacher who got a WV for working P/T at a primary school as a locally-hired NET (not under the NET scheme per se, so no flights, special allowance or baggage allowance).
In this case the salary was about half that of a NET but ok with immigration. WV was issued without any hassles.
If an employer is prepared to sponsor you and salary is "enough" in the eyes of immigration, you can get a WV same as a full-time employee. |

Thanks for that qualification about the possibility if getting P/T work and a visa. I will put in for that job now. |
