What is the difference between a TEFL certificate and a TESOL certificate? I see Hess, a school in Taiwan, says it awards a TEFL certificate upon completion of a one-year contract. Are there other jobs that do that? |

TEFL is teaching English as a Foreign Language.
TESOL is teaching English to Speakers of other languages.
TEFL is usually teaching English where English isn't the langugae of the country. EX, China.
TESOL is teaching English where English is the native language. EX England. |

Exactly as Denise said. TESOL includes both ESL and TEFL. |

TOEFL is the Test of English as a Foreign Language--required by American (and Canadian? don't know...) universities.
