John,

I'd say that it reveals frustration and disappointment from someone who approached this forum with a genuine interest in seeking information about a company and got useless information from some of the regulars here who have a record of straying completely off-topic (which does nothing to help the author of the original post). Yes, Middleastman should have avoided the personal comments, but I addressed personal remarks from those 1) whose attacks are offensive to me personally and/or 2) who have a history on this forum of personally attacking others.

Dear Middle East Beast,

To be fair, Scot47 has posted something that, ostensibly, related to the OP's (middleeastman's) original query, despite a snippy reply by her/him.

Don't you think that it would have been a polite gesture to let the OP respond before you weighed in with your opinion?

I addressed the personal attacks, which are not erased if not retracted in subsequent entries. If you want fairness, then consider scot47's history regarding vituperative responses.

If you want to continue this discussion, then start a new post or PM me. This has nothing to do with Middleastman's original post. I won't respond further here.

Dear Middle East Beast,
Yup, maybe some of us do (mis)use these forums to carry on some socializing. Perhaps that's not right. However, I see this site as more than only a question/answer resource (although that is, of course, its main purpose.)
I see it also as a community of individuals (who have mostly never met in person) who have shared interests and often shared backgrounds, and who enjoy each other's posts.
Straying from the original topic (as we are doing here) may not be appreciated by everyone (although it's pretty common), but since doing so doesn't prevent anyone who has relevant information to offer from posting, I can't see why it should upset someone to the point where the OP feels it necessary to make an insulting comment on the lives of others.
I think you will find, if you examine the past postings of, say, myself and scot47, that the only times we may have "attacked" anyone has been when that individual has "attacked" first.
Perhaps we should simply turn the other cheek, but while some get upset by off-topic postings, I get upset by posters who, in anonymity and from a very safe distance, insult others. That, to me, is simply cowardly and despicable behavior.
Regards,
John

Let's put things in perspective.

ME Man said that he was based in the UK. Scot47 gave him a contact detail in Lancashire.

There was some banter between veterans on this forum.

ME Man comes forth with a clipped reply (aimed at each one of the posters -old posters, all of them- denouncing their attitude).

After a bit of "to" from others comes a "fro" (not a congenial one) from the OP.

Yet, Scot47 responds helpfully - with a spiffy opening line - (He's our official curmedgeon, you know).

You really didn't help ME Man's cause when you weighed in.

Good luck, anyway in what ever you do.

Regards,

Lall

It is like going into a strange pub in a strange town. You get better service if you are polite and don't upset the regulars.

Hello guys,
Scot47- thanks for that information i appreciate it and will develop my skills with regards to the search function!, Middle East Beast many thanks for that regarding people posting off topic- I really feel that its quite frustrating to get information on these forums sometimes without posts being hijacked.
Johnslat, you are truly an enigma to me. You complain about my harsh words earlier, but PLEASE could you let us all know why you clicked 'post reply'on this topic as you obviously have no information to contribute. Either youre lonely or just plain bored.

'you are obviously a nasty little twerp with no social skills. ' - who are you? Frued?

Dear middleastman,
I clicked "post reply" because I enjoy "bantering" with some of the regulars on here. As I mentioned, I really don't see why that should get you so upset; my posting isn't going to prevent anyone who has relevant information to give you from doing so. I certainly don't think my posting merited your "Freudian" observation that my life is lonely and boring. If you would like to come out to Santa Fe, NM, I'll be happy to let you observe my life and then you can decide, based on more than one post on this thread, as to whether or not it's so "lonely and boring." We do have a spare bedroom, so room and board would be gratis.
Regards,
John

Vituperatuve, vitaperative,...abusively criticized response? I stand in awe! Where's Al Sharpton when we need him? My TCW, any word over five/six letters is a waste of space! Rolling Eyes
