Is there really a best time to apply for English teaching positions? I will finish the CELTA in a few weeks and hope to get a job in Eastern Europe. I have heard from some that schools hire year round and from others that I should apply immediately.

Thanks |

European schools (including Central and Eastern) rarely hire from abroad. This is because, in the past, candidates either didn't show up or proved to be less-than-professional when they did.

You most generally need to be standing in the school, CV in hand, looking reputable, before you will get a serious hearing.

The exception is for schools that are hiring teachers with specialist qualifications or schools in very remote locations.

The normal contract period for the region is September - June, so late August to first of September is the hot hiring period. |

				| About two months before you want to start, that should be enough for visas, certs to be legalised, etc. |
