Hey all,
I have searched and not seen anything about CfBT in the UAE. Is it difficult to get on with them and that's why it's a quiet topic or not so hot.
I wondered which was better.. CfBT or al-Ghad as far as working conditions and accomodations.
I'd like a decent place to lay my head ya know...
Thanks

I would steer well clear of CfBT if I were you. Carlen and Mcsam are only two of very many who have legitimate grievances against the company, and almost all of those people have voted with their feet at the end of this academic year, even though there were a fair few who would have liked to stay on and help the bewildered PPP school staff through to the end of the third (and final) year of the initial programme. I would like to tell you that there is a glimmer of hope, as there have been changes at senior management level in the UK, and there will be a new head of project in Abu Dhabi next year, but it is too little, too late and CfBT's policy towards its staff actually working in schools remains one of arrogance and ignorance in equal measure. There have been recent attempts to appease disgruntled staff by sending out senior members of staff to conduct 'fact-finding' missions, but despite mass protests about certain common issues, absolutely nothing has been done. If you want to try your luck with an organisation which has not offered a single increase in pay since the project began in 2006, then by all means do so, but I'd strongly advise you to look elsewhere. |

I worked for CfBT in Abu Dhabi. Management has no morals. If staff put in a complaint to London, it get bounced straight back to management even when the complaint is about them.
They unfairly sacked me, didn't pay me owed wages and left me in the country illegally. I had to go to court. All very scary stuff when your employee lets you down in a foreign country. Cost me a bomb to leave. |
The same thing can be said for Al Gad. They did the same thing to a few people. I guess the best choice is to not choose either. |

This whole program is pretty messy. I would avoid it if I were you and could find something else.

One of the managers of the SABIS PPP just got picked up by CfBT so I would avoid them solely based on that. If they're resorting to getting management like this character from SABIS, they're not worth bothering with.
In his defense, he wasn't a bad man, but a total yes man and did whatever was asked/told of him. One can't help but wonder if he resigned or was asked to leave though... |

What a joke. worked there for sometime at one of the schools. The manager i useless, female students were totally out of control, many of the teachers had NO experience teaching at all, nor did they have any kind of qualifications, they were there for the money, good for them, but then how does CFBT get these contracts? Am sure the Ministry of Education in the UAE has requirements? Oh, right, it's the UAE...all these directors have to do is pretend to know what they're doing, talk the talk and they get into these postitions and get the contracts..it's all a big joke. Any wonder students don't improve.... |
