Low end: 150 dirhams/hour. Since it's technically IELTS prep I would aim for 200 dirhams. Tuition rates, like salaries, don't seem to have risen much in the last 10 years.

Eek...that's not very much money. To take an IELTS class in the UAE would cost a small fortune. I can understand lowering the price a bit for online classes...just not that much.

LOL .... I know. when I read your response about the rates, I thought I'd get a heart attack Shocked , because the lessons are underway. To date he has paid for 15 lessons, but I know I deserve more. One-to one teaching is so demanding. I don't leave a grammar point until he can show that he fully understands it. Right now, we're still on the basic grammar refresher course but I've started to introduce bits of the IELTS.

Thanks so much for the input. I wonder if I can still re-negotiate for the rate since we're on a break now.
..... I've just heard from him, a friend wants to take lessons with me. This time it's ESL....good luck to me! Razz
