Has the employment visa changed recently in Hong Kong? It used to be that you found application form ID (E) 936 under Entry visas for HK but the sections for employment have been crossed out...
I think (though I'm not sure because the title makes me think it's only for Mainlanders) that the employment visa now is application form ID 990A (for the applicant to fill in) and that is found under Admissions Scheme for Mainland Talents and Professionals.
Is this correct? And this has to be sent to HK with accompanying documents? It also looks like the employer (sponsor) has to fill out a different form ID 990B...
Anybody know anything about this? |

I don't know what it used to be but I think you are right - it is now 990A. |

The documentation from the EDB which was sent to me today after they had acknowledged receipt of my acceptance proforma refers to the old visa ID (E) 936 A. ??? I would be applying as an "imported worker"??
Is it that they just haven't updated their form? I tried ringing Immigration in HK about it but got a very elaborate numbered system with various different people reading out recorded paragraphs from stuff I found on the Immigration website anyway...
I guess it means I will have to find another phone number and try and speak to someone. I wish I could trust the bumpf they've sent me but I just can't....
Anyone else know for certain which visa it is? |

I think you should fill them in and return them. I'm sure much of the information required will be similar for both forms.
The Immigration Department will issue the right visa.
It usually takes 4 to 6 weeks to process the visa so the sooner you can get all the paperwork done the sooner you will get it. You really need to have it in for the beginning of July to ensure the visa for mid August. |

Well the government have responded and it is a new visa
" I have contacted the Immigration Department today. You are right, they have published a new form ID990A last month for Application for Entry for Employment as Professionals.
You are required to fill in ID990A while the school need to fill in ID990B"
At least we know now! |
