Anyone have any information about this school? I'm particularly interested in hearing from anyone who's personally been there.

I agree. If they can't, won't, or don't provide them then find another job. There are schools out there where FAOs will provide such references.

Janeal,
My Filipina gf teaches at another college in Nanchang, but will be in Gongqing visiting other Filipinos this week. One of them is at the school you are interested in. I'll see if he would join the forum to contact you.

The Filipinos are usually offered a bit less than the native speakers, and get less travel money, since it is a short flight back to the Phil. I'm not saying it is right, just that is the way it is.

Gongqing is close to Poyang Lake, the largest freshwater lake in China and has a huge wildlife area. Lushan Mountain is close by as well, and Nanchang is not too bad a city itself.

Thanks all. Actually, I live in the Philippines permanently and see evidence of the anti-filipino bias quite often. It's unfortunate because I've lived here for 15 years (I'm american) and enjoy it. If your friend's up for some email, I'd surely appr4eciate it.

Is there a forum rule against commenting directly about particular schools? I have noticed that no one will comment usually. If this is the case, what is the reason? Just wondering.

It could be because people have to protect themselves. Perhaps they are currently working at a school, or have posted enough online that they can be "outed" and don't want to deal with vindictive former employers. If you dig around the archives here you will find that many teachers have named schools, etc. So it's not an absolute.

"...or have posted enough online that they can be "outed" and don't want to deal with vindictive former employers"

Let me begin by saying : I have not even arrived in China yet, so my knowledge of this is limited...

But... Do former employers really have that much power? What is being "outed"?
