Does anybody feel any safer knowing that 700+ "deviants" have been arrested, but only 520 remain in custody? Somehow I don't find these reports comforting. I felt much better when I didn't know how many there were around.

"Ignorance is bliss." Wink

There may be fewer, or there may be many more. No one knows (except, of course, the SHADOW).

Well, Teta Mia, nobody is safe in the magic kingdom or anywhere else!
And according to the news, the 'deviants' were planning to attack oil installations not the compounds or the villa where Teta Mia and her associates are living! But, Teta Mia, the probability that you will be killed in a car accident in the magic kingdom is 1000 times higher than to be killed by one of the 'deviants'.

BTW, teta Mia, the term "deviant" is used by uncle Bandar and his assoiates to describe the militants (or Mujahidins) of Al-Qaeda. And the militants of Al-Qaeda describes Uncle Bandar and his associates as "Tawaghit" (demonic forces of evil).

Dear 007,
Ah, that's the trouble with subjective definitions: One person's freedom fighter is another's terrorist.

Regards,
John

I didn't feel unsafe before I heard this 'news' and I don't feel unsafe now. I take it with the same pinch of salt I take all 'official' news. Bear in mind that the term 'terrorist' can be very loosely interpreted, and can mean anyone who the authorities are suspicious of for whatever reason. Quite apart from the fact that these several hundred 'deviant' at a time 'swoops' somehow seem just a tad implausible...

Teta Mia does not fear for her compound. As you say, 007, the chances of that kind of attack are very slim. In fact, I do not fear for myself personally at all (except in traffic!).

What I do fear are the local and global effects of a massive attack on an oil installation here. I would like to be able to keep my job and stay in the Kingdom. That could quickly become impossible in the face of a serious attack.

I also fear the sectarian violence that could arise in the Eastern Province in the face of such an attack, or (much more frightening) an attack on Iranian nuclear facilities.

Sometimes I feel that a serious attack on KSA's oil fields is only a matter of time. A part of me is even half-surprised that one has not yet happened, though we are told there have been attempts. Tensions are relatively low in KSA right now, but if there were, say to be an attack on Iran, or if the economy were to go seriously downhill, that could all change.

I don't think anyone is predicting an attack on "Iranian oil facilities". Some fear/hope that the US/Israel may be sufficiently insane to attempt to bomb Iran's alleged nuclear facilities. I personally don't believe that this will happen, but if it does, batten down the hatches and prepare for a rough ride.

Well, job security does not exist in the magic kingdom or in any country in the Middle East! You could be fired or your contract not renewed for any reason, so teta Mia, always prepare yourself for that day, the day of 'judgment'! Laughing

Well, my guess is that Uncle Sam will not attack Iran before Novemver 2008, but there is a strong probability that the state of "I" will attack Iran in the near future, just watch the sky over the magic kingdom! Laughing

I agree with Uncle Bond about Uncle Sam not attacking Iran before November. I doubt they will attack during November, either. Nor will they attack in December or January.
But the State of ''I''? You clearly know something I don't. Please tell me.

Dear sheikh,

" . . . the state of "I" will attack Iran in the near future."

The state of "I" = Occupied Palestine.

John

Miss Mia doesn't like it when she makes mistakes. It keeps her awake at night. Shocked

Please note that I have edited the post. Thanks for pointing it out, Cleopatra.

The US will not attack Iran.

Israel OTOH, will most probably do aerial raids on the nuclear installations if Iran continues enriching uranium.

Alleged??? Even the Iranians acknowledge their existence! It's their purpose that worries many of us. Don't you get the Daily Telegraph out there in the Sand Box?
