HI everyone:

I am planning on moving to Mexico within the next couple of months. I would like to settle in Oaxaca City. I have my TEFL from a University in Canada. When do the classes start? Is it August or September?

Here is the SEP (Ministry of Education) calendar: http://www.sep.gob.mx/wb/sep1/calendario_escolar_20082009. Classes start August 18. Note that this only covers up to secundaria (middle school). Private primary and middle schools are not obligated to follow the official calendar, but many of them do.

Prepas (high schools) and universities usually follow different calendars; some start sooner, some later, some at the same time as the lower grades. Language schools usually have new courses starting all the time throughout the year.
