I'm just trying to crunch some budget numbers before I come to Bangkok in August. Can I get a nice studio apartment in Bangkok for 10,000 Baht a month? Thanks.

JFK, 10k sounds a little steep for a studio apartment.

I dont live downtown, but here in Bankhae, you can get a studio with a balcony and cable for less than 5k a month, bills included.

I've been looking online (mostly on Craigslist Thailand) and I'm just trying to get a feel for what you get for the money. I like the numbers you're throwing at me Very Happy

10k is actually medium priced for a studio in some parts. I was offered a big studio near Lumpini last year. Price 14k.

A colleague found a studio bang in Suriwong downtown for 6k!! But, it is as big as my toilet.

Studios in my block in leafy Ari are 10k, but there is a wait list.

If you go out of town a little, you can get studios for 4k---but it will take 2 hours to get into the centre.

mr room finder . com (obviously no space) is the place to check out.

Studios from 6+ K depending on the size. I'd go for a one bedroom place though. You'll pay from 8K depending on the BTS stop. not too far along the BTS (sky train) and you'll pay around 10-15k for one bedroom, kitchenette, bathtub, etc etc if you're lucky. it's a good site.

This may be a silly question, but I'm looking on that site that DMPT linked now, and I can't tell if some of the apartments have private bathrooms. Are non-private bathrooms common? Thanks again everyone.

No, they're not. You will always have a private bathroom if you're paying more than 1,000 baht a month rent.

Theres some nice apartments on Soi 31 or 32.. just can't quite remember, but will check if anyone needs it. They are 7000 a month, just a small studio, but take monthly agreements.
Theres a few around, you just have to get here, then ask around.
Get a thai to look for you, so you can get a better price lol
