PLEASE learn to do a search! This has been answered countless times!
Or look at the FAQ stickies. Answers are there, too. |
I've come to the conclusion that you're a very impatient person. Relax, man. It's really not your job on this forum to scream at folks. |

Impatient? Your opinion, of course.
I pointed out the answer (two, actually, if you consider any number of threads also contained in a search would have done the same thing as the FAQ, which he chose to ignore). He complained nevertheless. What's the point in that?
In fact, what is the point in having the FAQs? Some people will never be satisfied.
If someone thinks the FAQs are outdated, look them up, then ask about a specific point, rather than shooting the messenger, who provided quick direct service. |

If it means anything, I've been on tons of other message boards, and the long-termers usually just skip the uninteresting posts,....
There is NOWHERE that says that every member of this Forum HAS to open and post on threads they have no interest in. Just skip the thread.
|
You know I did skip this thread, then I used the SEARCH FUNCTION to do a bit of research and I found a way to send money home for 500yen or less. Great thing that SEARCH FUNCTION.
BTW the poster that put up the information is no longer around because he got sick of all the spam threads by people who won't used the SEARCH FUNCTION. |

Oi you guys, cut Glenski some slack. He spends a hell of a lot of time helping people on these forums. If people can't be bothered to help themselves just a little, is it any wonder people may just get a bit irritated? You know I'm right |

Well, my original post stated I already had several options, the post office and the banks, and I was inquiring what individual people do.
Parrothead uses the post office, Apsara uses the post office, and I used the post office, just like I originally said I would probably do in the original post.
The inquiry was NOT 'how to send money home' BUT 'how do different active posters choose to individually choose to send their money home'. Some people read the question correctly, and others didn't.
-------
This post was actually a TEST on your ENGLISH COMPREHENSION SKILLS. Some of you passed and some of you FAILED....muahahahaha.
.... and you call yourself English Teachers!! |

Funny, so you didn't write
What is the best way to send money home?
Banks seem to charge 7000 yen, and the post office charges around 2500 yen. Are there other options? The post office is looking like the better option.
What do the each of you do?
Now you might of intented to ask 'how do different active posters choose to individually choose to send their money home'. but you didn't did you. By asking "what is the best way" and asking for "other options" you are implying "how". Silk purses and pigs ears, if you are after some specific information you might try working on your writing skills rather than casting aspersions on others reading comprehension abilities. |

Or it was simply a failure of your English writing skills...

Anyway, I agree with Mulder. Lay off Glenski, Amani. Firstly, I don't think his message really qualifies as "screaming". And secondly, in my time on this forum, he's repeatedly shown himself to be the most helpful member when it comes to providing clear and objective information. If he wants to get a little cranky with the people who are too lazy to do a little work for themselves, I'd say he's earned it. |

Whether you argue about reading or writing ability, the simple fact is, the answer is plainly and easily available without a post.
Did Tiger consult the FAQs? No.
Did Tiger do a search? Apparently not. If he had, he would have come up with the following threads that provide up to date information (as if the FAQ isn't, but he didn't ask about that). I have listed them in chronological order, shown how many people responded, and shown the easy-to-understand thread titles just so you know I didn't look up any esoteric threads. These were all found with the keywords "send money home", and the answers below were on the first page of results.
A Money transfer question
http://forums.eslcafe.com/job/viewtopic.php?t=56156&highlight=send+money
(only 1 reply, including a nice animation about flogging a dead horsde, but many more threads were included, Sept. 2007)
Money Transfer? (to Canada)
http://forums.eslcafe.com/job/viewtopic.php?t=59770&highlight=send+money
(4 people responded, Jan. 2008)
Sending money home
http://forums.eslcafe.com/job/viewtopic.php?t=60131&highlight=send+money
(6 people responded, Feb. 2008)
Wire transfer from Japan to the United States
http://forums.eslcafe.com/job/viewtopic.php?t=63683&highlight=send+money
(3 people responded other than Tiger Beer himself, June 2008)
So, that's 15 replies (more if you count Jim Dunlop's links) in the space of the last 10 months. Sufficient for most people to make an informed decision...if you do the search.
Now, can we stop the whinging, and ask the mods to make this a huge sticky in itself, and get on with other pressing matters? |

Glenski,
Perfect final post. You finished the thread nicely and with a lot of civility.
Let's put this thread to rest and move on to other matters. |

Just before we do put it to rest, I use GoLloyds, not the post office. For some reason it is not possible to remit money to New Zealand through the post office, so I have used GoLloyds from the start.
I agree that thread should probably now be locked. |
