Hi i heard from an old hand at this that by september the DELTA will be in 3 or 4 parts with each part costing the same as a CELTA and the CELTA will no longer valid as the first part will be more valueble. This is an initiative by the British Council i am told.

has anyone heard anything about this? And can anyone clarify what it is about? Was considering taking a CELTA but now not so sure.

Try reading here:

They're changing the format of the DELTA but it in no way replaces the CELTA. Its still for experienced teachers.

I'm a DOS. And I know what a CELTA is.

I also know what a lot of other things are that are better than CELTA.

Best,
Justin

Ha Ha Ha Rolling Eyes

Try and find a teacher that doesn't slag off the management and wonder why they don't get their contracts renewed.

The CELTA is not being phased out. It will remain the premier initial TESOL certification.

The new DELTA is for teachers with initial training and experience, and it has three parts. (You can take one, two or three.) Part 1 covers methodology and language background. Part 2 is the practicum. Part 3 involves writing a paper on a specialized teaching area. You have to take an approved course for Part 2 but not necessarily for the other two parts.
