Has anyone heard anything about the ministry changing the start of school to after Ramadan? Hearing rumors, again!

They were discussing it again yesterday. Govt schol teachers have beeen told that kids start after ramadan and teachers during ramadan- but what is the point of that??? We sit around all day with no students for 2 or 3 weeks writing lesson plans?

I wouldn't mind a couple extra weeks vacation, but we'll end up paying for it at the end of the year. Next summer vacation probably wouldn't start until July.
Hope they make a decision quickly. Changing flights will be next to impossible if they wait much longer.

I don't think anyone will know until about 2 weeks before hand.
Re finishing dates , mybe they would just cut out a few days through the ear and add a few at the end. What about December tho'? It's going to be the same with Eid AND Xmas holidays - some schools are a week in , a week off a week in 2 weeks off.....silly.

private schools are ministry bound to have a minimum number of school days so if they open late expect bare minimum christmas , eid, spring break holidays otherwise last day might be july!

I think the min private schools must have is 170 ? Starting on the 6th october, with no Xmas only 2 Eids, National and Lib, 1 week Easter lets you finish around 11th June ....if my maths is right.
Don't actually understand why schools here need to give Xmas holidays- after all we are in a Muslim country and in the UK Muslim teachers aren't given Eid. I believe Xmas should be given as unpaid leave but only 2 days- Xmas Day and Boxing Day.

Hit me now- but I don't see why I should finish in July because we need 2 weeks holiday in December. ( If Xtians checked the cal. June is more of an approximate date for the birth of Jesus puh anyway! )

Hit me again.

Arab Times today:

''No change to start of school
KUWAIT CITY : The Council of Ministers on Monday decided not to change the date for opening schools and added it will remain the same as in previous years, Deputy Prime Minister and State Minister for Cabinet Affairs Faisal Al-Hajji said after the Cabinets weekly meeting. Earlier, several calls were made to postpone the opening of the next academic year until after Ramadan, which is expected to start on-September 1 this year. Academic years normally start at the beginning of September.

Al-Hajji confirmed the Cabinet thoroughly reviewed the proposal and agreed not to change the date as any postponement of the start of the school year will oblige students to stay in schools during the hot summer season next year which, he pointed out, will have a negative impact on their studies.
For this reason and other considerations, the Cabinet decided to stick with the original date of opening schools, Al-Hajji concluded.''

They are paying you to sit around and do nothing. And you are complaining ?
I think you should pay a visit to the Real World and then review the way you feel about this.

I'd rather my real world consisted of working and not sitting around Scot. That's why I'm complaining.
And get off your high horse and stop believing that people in Kuwait aren't in the real world. Everything is quite real here- comfort does not mean 'unreal'.
