I was wondering how strict the ministry is in checking credentials. I have a TESL certificate, but the course was only 3 months long. I'm afraid if the ministry calls my uni they'll determine the course was too short and not accept my credientials. I have a BA, a TESL certificate, and a graduate diploma.
Will I have any trouble obtaining a work visa as a teaching assistant at a secondary school? |

| What do you mean, only three months long? Most TESL certificates, including CELTA, are 5 weeks or less. |

Don't take it from me.
If you look at the list of TESL schools approved by TESL Canada <tesl(dot)ca, then click "Standards", and "TESL Canada Recognized Teacher Training Programs"> you'll find that almost all of them are only qualified to issue "standard 1" certificates. "Standard 1" is the standard international 120-ish hours CELTA = 5 weeks. The rest of the schools probably mostly issue level 1s, with the odd keener who aims higher. |
