but quite frankly. it's bit of a dump-all ugly concrete etc.Pity you are not going to Almaty-it really is much nicer! |

yes Almaty has some lovely traffic jams. Almaty is a great city to live and work in; the traffic is bad yes like a lot of big cities. The mountains and scenary are stunning when you can see them. Its a vibrant modern city with a lot of interesting sites and a certain charm all its own.
Atyrau is an oil town; people come here to work not for the scenary. The river is nice to walk along but there is not much else to write home about. I am working here and like it I live well, get well paid and find the job interesting. The Kazakhs are a feisty race, charming, friendly and welcoming. They also like a good fight on a Saturday night but keeping out of trouble is easy really. |
