Does anyone have any knowledge of Guangdong University of Finance? They have one campus in Guangzhou and one in Zhaoqing. Any info on how the schools are, if the administration is good, teachers are happy, etc would be appreciated. Also, if one campus is much better to teach at than the other...

Thanks.

When I interviewed there, I was told that they had two campuses in Guangzhou -- one somewhat centrally located ... and I say "somewhat" and one way out in God's green acre, so to speak. I wasn't interested in Zhuhai so I didn't pursue that line of thought at all.

Pay is slightly above average for Guangzhou uni's. There is at least one large very centrally-located (and I don't mean on that far-removed university island where many of he uni's are relocating) university that pays much more and that is on a centrally-located subway stop.

It is not a top-tier university and it is not even one of the five best universities in the city. That being said, however, it is a business university and all of its graduates find jobs relatively easily, particularly in the red-hot employment market in GZ. If you like teaching accountant-and-banker type personalities (great on the numbers, low on the creativity), then this school would be great for you.

They do not have a bad reputation in GZ and are known to pay on time. The FAO is a big rigid and iron-clad, as is the case in other places, so when and if you negotiate your contract, please, as they say, "dot your i's and cross your t's" very caerfully because what you agree to at that moment is only what they will produce -- nothing more, nothing less.

They don't suffer from an inordinate amount of "runners", such as is the case at Baiyun and Alcanta and GTCFLA, but they also do not have a high percentage of returning teachers either. Middle of the road.

Why is it that you never name names in your posts? Why tantalize us with only a part of your detailed insider knowledge?

And by the way... "than"? Rolling Eyes Is this the kind of English they teach in the elite eastern prep school you attended? Rolling Eyes
