[rupert shellgame]

There are two parts to this question. First, I'm breaking contract early, and am going to pay my fee. But what is the minimum notice I have to give them? An agent told me two weeks, tealit says 10 days, I'm just not sure.

Once I tell these *beep* I'm thru with them, are they required to sign a cancellation agreement? And when do we do it? Now, or when my notice is up??

Mine is 25,000. I've heard of them being as high as 50,000, and I know someone who has 0 (zero).

If you can negotiate one around 10,000 I think that's reasonable. These buxibans have themselves confused with cell phone plans. Buxibans (and cell phones) can suck, and there shouldn't be such large penalties for a teacher excersising his or her right to quit a job that sucks. I am.

I wonder if this rules applies after six months of servitude

or if there is an emergency, say, an urgency to see family.

Ministry of education regulations spearheaded by Thai parent demands for the vetting of the foreign teacher has led to ''more'' stringent rules in place by both school management and the Thai government. Unfortunately, foreigners coming to the kingdom to teach, find themselves frustrated and perplexed by the sperious salary and the pauper's package on offer.

The path to travel? Whom amongst us would like to teach English with the following as a must manage; teacher's licence; work permit; TEFL; [1] BA, [2] BA Ed.; ten years experience minimum, and a Thai culture course if in all likliehood, you find yourself no better off than if you had none of the above teaching?

*Excluding ten years teacher training experience. Teach in Thailand for three-hundred baht hourly or the contracted 18 hours?
