Hi,
I have been offered to teach in the province of Henan and would like to know if it is a good place to be weather-wise ?
Is a salary of 4500 per month O.K. for 20 hours of 45 minutes each ?
What is exactly an English Corner ?
The contract stipulates I should not teach for others unless granted the permission; shoul I sign this ?
Please, help a newbie with your expertise .

Every contract says you should not teach elsewhere without permission. Even the Chinese teachers sign this. And everyone tends to ignore it. Your FAO (Foreign affair officer) will often be the one to get you some of these jobs.
I like the weather, July and August are hot, Winter relatively mild (I am from new York State), snow is rare, you can look up this stuff on the internet. So-so as far as pollution...where are you teaching?
4,500 for 20 periods of 45 minutes. To me, not unacceptable for your first year, depending on your qualifications. Not a rip off. Teaching kids?
I figure 3,500 for 12-16 hours to be about average for a college. More important are your benefits...Internet computer, nice apartment, everything paid for? |

English Corner:
That's an organised "English only" meeting for learners that potentially have no interest in the language; it's a social experiment that seldom fails to frustrate teachers. |
