Er, assuming you mean HK - yes. But the humidity here is the big problem.

Well, if you think HK is hot and humid then I would advise against going to Singapore where it can often reach 40 degrees and 99% relative humidity! Actually, HK is not very hot; it only goes to up to a maximum of around 36 degrees. In KSA, Bahrain, & Kuwait I experienced temperatures of 50 plus degrees!

According to http://app.nea.gov.sg/cms/htdocs/article.asp?pid=1088

which seems to be the Singapore governments weather website
TEMPERATURE: Diurnal range: Minimum 23 to 26 deg C and Maximum 31 to 34 deg C
Extremes: Minimum of 19.4 deg C and Maximum of 35.8 deg C
According to http://app.nea.gov.sg/data/mss/pdf/26March07.pdf

the maximum temperature recorded since 1929 was 36c.

It would be great if you post evidence to back up your claim that it often reaches 40. You could then let the Singapore government know of their mistakes.

Despite the extreme summer temperatures in Middle Eastern countries, humidity is generally low, so 50 feels more comfortable than 36 in Hong Kong.
It's the humidity that makes all the difference.

I find the summer in Hong Kong to be very debilitating - temperatures in the 30s and humidity in the 90s - I just head for the aircon.

Actually, countries Like Bahrain and the east coast of the KSA are extremely hot and humid. It's almost sickening!

I've lived in HK during the summer and fall and I can say it is definitely worse than Southern California sometimes.

The real problem is the humidity and that would dissuade me from wearing nice clothes many times. By the end of the day my clothes would have been sticky from the sweat.

Yes Noodles, I should've mentioned Bahrain and Dubai as being pretty humid.
I didn't know about humidity being an issue in Saudi - weird to think that a desert would be like that It's not a place I'd ever consider but the humidity factor just makes it worse to my mind.

Hong Kong is incredibly hot during the summer, as is most of Asia. Actually, it's *too* hot damn down here given the high humidity for the region this time of year. In Shanghai, my summer tee is soaked in sweat before I even reach the school during my short walk to school. I'm not a big guy, nor known as a big sweater anywhere else. Oh well, there are air conditioners most anywhere, so you'll get by untill late Autumn. They say Florida state used to be mostly deserted until the aircon was invented, btw.

Four people have been taken to hospital with suspected heatstroke, as temperatures soared to 33 degrees across much of the New Territories. In Tuen Mun, the mercury hit 34. Police say two hikers were airlifted to hospital in separate incidents after becoming sick while walking in hills in Sai Kung. Another hiker collapsed and was carried downhill in a north Kowloon country park. A fourth individual was taken to hospital from Tsim Sha Tsui after fainting in the heat.
