I'm looking for a change... I recently applied to an up and coming school in Equatorial Guinea the capital Malabo. It is located on the University campus UNGE or will be in mid December. I'm curious about pay conditions there. If anyone can share the standard salary package etc. I would be most grateful. (The standard for the city of Malabo, I have 2 Masters 1 in Organizational Development, 2nd in Education and a standard TEFL, 3 years of ESL teaching and 5 corp. training).
I am currently teaching at a University in Turkey and looking for more money and adventure. Tell me all the dirt people. |

Hey, Caterinamh. I have been doing some research on Equatorial Guinea also. What attracts me is that Spanish, French and Portuguese are the official languages of that country. I'd like to learn French or Portuguese without losing my Spanish. Unfortunately, everything I've read, admittedly very little, has been awful. The government appears to be completely corrupt even though they don't lack money due to recently discovered oil reserves. Since they gained independence in Spain, things have gone downhill and the standard of living is very poor, with a high risk of disease. I don't know what you look like, but I'm white and would probably stand out more than anyone, and that might not be good.
Well, I've never been there, so I really don't know what I'm talking about, but I thought you might be interested in what I had read. If you go there, let us know what it's like. Maybe I'll try to get over there sometime. |
