Have Rice Krispies disappeared again? I can't find them any more at the Comercial after their brief appearance last month.

I originally found them at Wal-Mart, and thought there was also a sign advertising that they were here to stay. I cannot recall though if I saw them this past Friday when we were shopping though...

I did make some super sweet, super good, sweet marie bars last week with them. Also made regular squares but had to pick through the marshmallows to avoid the strawberry flavoured ones. Confused

I'll check it out in my local Mega (CM), in Pilares, DF. It's one of the biggest. (Just a star struck footnote, I queued behind the actor who played Alejandro in Amor en Custodia last week! But you really didn't want to know that! Shocked ).

There is a habit in Mexico of introducing great new products, and then withdrawing them because Mexicans are too conservative about food. I particularly miss:

Sabritas Alambre flavored crisps (chips - AmE)
Nestle higo & pasa yoghurt
McVitie's Chocolate Digestives (biscuits/cookies)

On the contrary, if you can't share those moments, then where's the thrill?

Maybe it's worth opening a new thread for Close Encounters with Mexican Celebrities. We have a photo of my daughter with Anglica Mara back from a couple years ago when some scenes from La fea ms bella were being shot at our sports club. The actors were very gracious about giving us onlookers autographs and photo opportunities in their off-screen moments.

Has anyone ever found root beer?

Also, I seem to remember people wondering about where to find bagels. My Superama has them and they're good ones! It's the Superama on Michoacan, right off Parque Mxico in Condesa.

I saw Mint Jelly in Sam's the other day for any Brits interested in knocking up a Sunday roast. Bagels are back in the HEB in SLP!

I haven't seen anyone from Amor en Custodia though it is my dream having learnt most of my Spanish from being forced to watch it!

Mega/CM must be the supermarket of the celebs, 'cos I saw Jorge Zarza (Hechos Meridiano - Azteca 13) in the Mixcoac branch. And Bruno Bichir (Conrado in Amor en Custodia) at the airport. And that girl who is in many TV ads, notably the Knorr caldo de gallina where she's talking to her grandmother, was in my wife's office when I was there once. She was a right spoilt pain in the posterior!

I have found Organic Crispy Rice at Wal-Mart. They taste like Rice Krispies to me. The only difference is the price. Since its organic it probably costs more. A box is around 48 pesos I believe. They're right next to the rest of the cereals.
One other thing, the box is kind of small compared to the rest of the cereal and it's an American product which may explain the higher price also.

I found a couple of Quebec beers the other day at a Superama. Fin du Monde and Maudite, translated as End of the World and Goddamit respectively.

Now, can anyone locate veggie burgers?

Ah, real mature cheddar would be nice. CM does something they call cheddar, by American Gourmet, but it's orange-colored and mild. Finding Stilton would be a miracle!

HEB does some nice ones, though nothing on a headache-inducing English one.
