I have found students to be happy sitting in a cafe with a coffee for an hour and the variety of things happening can help to stimulate conversation and give a more natural experience when doing conversation classes for example. I have only done this with one or two students at a time and the purpose of the class was to practice their speaking skills either for an exam or a visit to UK ,whether as a student or on business.
I was working for a school at the time and so did not need the expense of renting an office.
Other students were happy to invite me to their home,but they were of school age, the parent[s] in another room,toilet nearby,drinks supplied by grateful parent, and relaxed student.
