I may be spending some time in Alicante this summer and would love to earn some money whilst I am there. I am English, am a Uni student (but no degree yet) and have not yet done a CELTA.

Any chance?

Not much as you seemingly have no qualifications or experience!

Lots of chances... bar work, waitering, door to door sales... take your pick from any number of mcjobs.

If you mean teaching then forget it, even with experience you'd be hard pressed to find anything in the Summer months. As it is you're heading to one of the most popular ex-pat towns where competition will be stiff and that you're still at Uni means you're more likely to be 19-20 years old and therefore less likely to be taken seriously by employers. Either way, arrive after 10th of September with the intention of staying til July 2009 if you want to teach.

I arrived in Alicante a couple of years ago with TESOL and experience, looking for work for a full year. I found that even established teachers there had trouble getting all their hours from one school, and some were doing a few for one employer and a few for another.
"Good" schools wanted to see you were serious so expected you to have an apartment as a base, so you couldn't just leave the country after a few weeks like a tourist.
I visited a few schools and found some of the people i spoke to were friendly and offered helpful advice. I was however warned about one boss who threatened his staff and was said to be an aggressive bully. Perhaps a casual request for advice about any bad schools would help to find out if this guy or any others are operating now.
