Preferably close to TEFL international and somewhere reasonably priced with all the mod cons. Thanks. |

I recommend Madame Cuc's. She has 3 locations all in the Pham Ngu Lau (backpacker) area. Of the 3, 184 Cong Quynh Street is the best one. It is down a narrow, quiet alley. Good, clean, comfortable rooms with private bathrooms, a/c, cable tv. Breakfast included, fruit and juice/coffee anytime. The staff was wonderful the last time I stayed there, which was one year ago. Rooms are $15 and up.
phone for Madam Cuc's 184: 84-8-8361679

Hey,
I would suggest just coming and finding your own guest house. I mean there are a thousand of them. Check yourself into one, say for about $15-$20 a night and then hunt around to find a guest house that is suitable for you.
The rooms in Guesthouses can vary a lot and a suggestion doesn't mean you will get the same room that was suggested to you. So just come and check'em out. It's the best way. |

It would take about 10-15 minutes by motorbike. |

most of the houses arranged by TEFL (i did mine in April-May session) are about 15 minutes away by moto. I styed at the Binh Thanh Guethouse (Co Bac St. % min from backpacker area walking) and it was great. Nice family, wireless internet (on the bottom floor, didn't quite reach upstairs) only like 9 dollars a night for an AC single room. Laundry service basically $1 per kilo. Highly recommended. |

Try Thanh Guesthouse, also on Co Bac street. Theres an alleyway (the 171 alleyway) that is packed with guesthouses. Thanh is about $220-$250/month, depending on your room size. Its about 15 mins away from TEFL by xe om (motorbike taxi). I did the Feb-March session, and I've been staying here since I arrived, its run by a very nice family. Thanh Guesthouse has a number of other long-term teachers living here too.
I found it through TEFL, I think it was the first option on their list of accommodation opotions. I'm moving to a new house in District 10 in 2 weeks, so there will be at least one free room here ($220/month). |

i stayed at Miss Loi's in the alley on Co Bac for a month. they don't have internet, but there's a wifi and internet cafe right down the street. the price was good, the room was great, included breakfast, and the staff are awesome!
if they are full, they may direct you across the alley. this is a great family place, as well.
you may already have a place, but hope this helps. |
