I made this thread earlier this week on the Korea forum:
http://forums.eslcafe.com/korea/viewtopic.php?t=129745

The reason is because many people here talk about China as being 'the next Korea' as far as ESL/EFL goes. Specifically, they're talking about salary.

I decided to research this by combing through the China boards, and it seems that China is not the next Korea after all. But what do the China hands think?

As I do not want this thread to be deleted, please keep your threads about China or about China compared to Korea. Many thanks!

The pay levels of China will never be at the Korean level, they will just hire 3rd world English speakers.

However, I see background checks, red tape, and Chinese student Nationalism being the same as Korea in the future.

You just won't get paid the big bucks to put up with it.

Snoop's spot on. I think whoever in Korea claims China is "the next Korea," had a bit too much Soju.

China is already the new Korea if one doesnt want to save but spend ones income in country. Living standard is much the same here for those living long term as in South Korea but saving potential here is low and if anything it will get worse as inflation continues to increase but wages stagnate.

However, I do agree we need more students that look like the OP's Avantar in our classrooms.
