According to Wikipedia, the opening ceremonies for the Beijing Games is going to happen on Aug 8 (a Fri) at 8 pm CST.n (the 8's are probably no coincidence - its considered a lucky number in Chinese culture).
I think we should have a get-together to watch it. I volunteer my house unless you all can think of a better venue. Im assuming it will be shown live on Mexican TV though I dont know what channel(s).

Somebody needs to be changing their location info...I cannot believe you would want to still have the Toluca association! |

It is indeed no coincidence - 08/08/08 at 8.00, but as I don't know what CST means, are you aware that if you want to see it live, we are talking 6.30am Mexican time on a Friday? Could be a bit difficult for many people. |

Ethnocentric person I am.. I interpreted CST as Central Standard Time, which would be time zone for Chicago and Mexico City. I clicked the link on Wikipedia and found that there it means China Standard Time, which is 8 hours ahead of GMT. So the opening ceremonies start at noon for Londoners....Guess that makes it 6 am our time?...
Dang... so much for that idea. |

I do actually have the day free...however if you think I am getting up for 6am (and on a free day at that!) you are crazy (and I know you know better than to request such a thing from me )
What sports are the Mexicans participating in?? |

I was wondering about that...8 AM our time? You'd think all those tv ad dollars coming from the US could have influenced the Chinese on that. |
