| Well somebody has to do the job. |
Sure - which is why we have administrative and managerial staff. I certainly do not feel that as a teacher I "have to" assist new staff in settling in.

Oh, I expect very little from management. I know that "management" often tries to shirk its duties. However, it is not my job to compensate for their shortcomings. It's one thing to answer occasional questions form new colleagues and show them where the photocopier is. But to take formal responsibility for a new teacher is, IMHO, not part of my job description. |

...and from wearing used socks and shoes to having buddies. The next step may be to arranging bed buddies.
I agree that some EFL managers serve & guide their employees but others lord it over and manipulate -- to protect their jobs (i.e., selfish, self-serving, and cut-throat). I'm pretty confident that most EFL managers in the Gulf are of the former kind.
This has been my experience. How about you? |
