|
|
You guys, I'm in dire need of a decent apartment starting in late September. I'd really like to find a place with a Kuwaiti family, but with my piddly housing allowance, I'm not able to afford much. I've been told Salwa is an area where you can find decent apartments for around 200. I've got two young nippers, so I'm definitely looking for a two bedroom.
Any ideas?
Thanks. |

salwa won't produce any 200 kd apartments |

No wish to be pedantic, but ''mo-hawk''? I thought ''Mulhaq'' was the term? |

close enough for kuwait
i figure with so many anglo tongues which can't speak arabic a butcherized phonetically similiar attempt is ok...but such tries can backfire
unless you're really good at some arabic sounds don't ask for a pumpkin at the vegetable market as the arabic word for pumpkin is easily confused for the arabic word for a turd

most of the time you're going to have to go 275-350 for a roomy 2-3 bedroom in a nice area or MAYBE a floor on a kuwaiti's house
floors can get more routinely but kuwaitis prefer americans/westerners
if you insist on going cheap , i'll get a expat slum
it's a trade off between an extra 100 kd and distance driven and neighborhood/quality of life
try maiden hawalli but it also depends on where you work |

Depending if you have secured ideal accommodation yet or not .....
Pay for a small text only advert in Arabic to state requirements and Rent budget limit, within a page of a local daily Arabic newspaper in Kuwait, saying you seek a private Kuwaiti family to rent from.
As a bonus for them, if you are a Westerner, they would actually be glad to enjoy speaking English when on the way in/out, plus you could all actually get along and learn from each other's cultures.
