With restrictions on alcohol in the Kingdom, I was wondering if they have a hash in Al Khobar, and whether soft drinks suffice for post run refreshment?

I know there is a fairly active 'hash house' group in Riyadh. I have no idea if there is one in Khobar, much less what type of 'refreshments' they favour.

Since your question is specific to KSA, and in fact to one particular city therein, would you not be better posting in the Saudi forum?

Ghost. I'm a golfer and footballer and not a hasher. However, I can assure you that beverage alcohol is consumed in vast quantities in the Magic Kingdom by expats and, apparently, by locals. Obviously it's the home made stuff and the the ''quality'' varies.
Good luck when you get there!

HHH exists in Khobar - by all accounts very wet - in the alcoholic sense. I found the Hash in Jeddah amazingly childish and full of the ethos of the English Public School !

Never came into contact with the Hash in Saudi but I do remember the hashers in Kuwait stopping every few hundred metres to chant some drivel. It never caught my imagination!

I have to agree with Scot47 on this one.

I went once to the HHH in Dhahran....not my cup of tea...and yes it was very wet.

If you really want hash thou that also is available!!!

The best hash in Saudi comes from the home of the Mutaween in Buraidah. Only problem is you can't buy tobacco to make a spliff because they view tobacco as haram.

Contact me for details about the Hash in Khobar if you have been given the info yet. And yes, there is plenty of supply of amber nectar as it comes from all the other compounds in the area!!

Are women welcome? If so, how would that work with the abaya thing?

Women are most welcome - chaperoned or not!!

We usually meet at the Dhahran Palace (Ramada Inn) Hotel around 4.30pm every other Friday. The next run is this Friday (15th). If you get a taxi, take your abaya and running gear or anything else you feel comfortable in. One of us will take you from the hotel to the site and give you a lift home.

If you want contact numbers, pm me before Thursday.

Dear scot47,

"Mixed running ? They will want mixed bathing next ! Or DANCING ! The broad path to perdition awaits ye all !"

The "broad path" you say? Pun intended, I'm sure.

Even though hash is 'consumed' in vast quantities in SA -- a very significant proportion of the local population consumes it, perhaps a majority -- I had no idea they had dedicated "Hash Houses" here!
