I'm in the process of getting an MA in TESOL (in the US), and have the option of completing a master's thesis or not...My advisor has suggested that if I want to teach in Asia (or Europe, for that matter), then I will have much more success in landing a job if I complete the thesis...My question is this: can anyone verify this?...Will a thesis truly help me get better positions in Asia?...In fact, are there any benefits to taking the thesis option?... |

Just out of curiosity--what options do you have besides the thesis? My MA program had a portfolio requirement (no choice), so naturally they touted the benefits of compiling a portfolio.

Denise:
The program (University of Maryland, Baltimore County) has four options:
1) Thesis/K-12 certification
2) Thesis/Non-K-12 certification
3) Non-thesis/K-12 certification
4) Non-thesis/Non-K-12 certification |
