The article is a pretty weak, fill-in-the-appropriate-generation piece of work. In short, the article recycles the comments made about the kids entering the work force following WWI, WWII, the Baby Boomers, etc, etc, all the way down the line.
The reality is and will always be based on supply and demand in the labor market, nothing more. Fewer workers leads to higher wages and better conditions, requiring employers to deliver more to get and keep people; and fewer jobs leads to lower wages and worse conditions, requiring employees to deliver more to get and keep jobs.
The percentages of people who change jobs or parents who are willing and able to support their adult children are not, I would guess, any different now than in other generations after you factor in the job market. |

It would seem that the real problem here is that while the teacher in question was not a professional nor was the guy calling himself the supervisor. Lets face it, there are plenty of guys in 'management' positions (lapdogs for the Taiwanese directors who are in turn lapdogs for the Tawainese owners) who are no better qualified than the teachers. You know the type - zero education background, teach in a kindergarten for a couple of years, marry a local and then put crap on the guys trying to do exactly what they did themselves. The OP obviously knows very little about either education or mamagement. I would love to hear what the OP's credentials are.
Also, lets face it, we can all wax lyrical about what a teacher should or should not do. However, at some point most of us have done something that we would not necessarily approve of publicly, such as texting, taking a smoke break or whatever. I ask the OP this question - when you were only teaching and not managing did you ever do something that you shouldn't really of done. Of course you did. Plus if you didn't even check this guy's references then you are just as much at fault as him.
I would fire the pair of you! |
