|
|
Hi
Well, the Olympics is over. How long does it take for an employer to process the Z visa?
The last time I heard from my employer was a week ago, around Aug 18.
Does anyone here knows how long do I have to wait for the employer to get back to me??
Thanks, |

I am puzzled.
Is your employer APPLYING for you to get a Resident's Permit?
Or are you waiting for your employer's documents to apply for a work visa back in your home country? |

I've had two schools say they are preparing me visas and then they both suddenly dropped lines in e-mails saying ' it might be better for you to come in on a tourist visa'
I've wasted months with these private schools who I suspect knew all along were not going to prepare me with a Z visa. One school was very eager that I bought a flight.
Your school may be fine but I'm pretty suspicious of schools at the moment! |

Um, have a read on this link:
http://z-visa.com/work/
The place employing you needs to get permition from two government departments for you to be able to apply for the Z visa, this could take a week or two. If they need you quickly then they will be doing all they can to get things done for you provided the persons doing everything knows what they are doing.
As you can read things have slowed down and tightened up on requirements and there is currently a shortage of teachers here due to what has happened.

|
|
Hi, Guys!
Finally, I've received the following from my email:
1. Letter of offer
2. Letter of offer (contract)
3. Letter of Acceptance
4. Foreign Experts Working Permit Application Record
I filled up the spaces, affixed my signatures and sent back nos. 2-4. by email..I sent paper yesterday Friday. The school should be able to receive all of them this Monday.
Question 1: Will the internet copies acceptable to the Chinese authorities?
Question 2: So, how long will my waiting be?
I appreciate some help on my questions. Thanks a lot. |

Bring your real copies to show for your resident visa. Most things take about a week to get done with the local police this end. After the police do their work the paperwork has to get to you! |

Maybe I'm confusing you with another poster. You are home or in China.
My reaction is the same as Eddy Cool. If you are in your home country, she can not apply for a z visa for you. |

I am beginning to "smell" not real with this poster for some reason.
First, the salary bit in SZ -- RMB 20,000 per month. Next, all of the Pollyanna-like rigamarole with the paper situation...the unlimited praise for EF, etc.
Sorry all but I just tend to doubt the authenticity of these posts. Something just doesn't "add up" around here at all. |

20,000 For someone new to China! There isn't much chance of that these days. I got an offer a couple of months back for a Korean setup here for arond 14,000 but I'm already into a contract with another place for 5,000 so is life. There was big money around for business English before the stock market went west but I look on the same sites that used to offer the big money and I'm lucky to see jobs at a third of what was offering 18 months back.
I also notice that the better money that was being paid for teaching young kids has fallen off sharply.
Remember we had that young American saying he had a hard life and had been everywhere but had spent 5 years looking after his mother or who ever plus two years of something else and all before he was 25. |

Hi!
In all honesty, I didn't expect that much salary either.
After the second interview by phone, I thought I heard around CNY 14,000. The interviewer was a Chinese speaking in Canadian English accent? She wasn't very clear with her English, I had to ask her many times to repeat what she said.
My contract also stipulates that I am not to reveal the content of my contract to anyone, which I am now..Oh,well..you don't know me..
I taught in Wuhan from 1998-2000. I actually received CYN 10,000, when every foreign teacher in Wuhan I met was receiving half of the amount! Our Chinese assistants were given around CYN 4,000.
It is not for me to prove it to you because it happened in the past now.
But the past school and this recent one are all international schools which only accept foreign teachers with credentials. The two American teachers and I, a Filipino, all hold U.S. credentials..that would qualify us to any public school in the U.S..
And also, our principal was an American who had a son studying in the school. She didn't want uncredentialed ones working in the school where her own son attended. |
