Don't bother working here - the woman owner is one of the biggest scheisters going - will give more details in another post later. |

I was not aware that one can own women in Mongolia...what about owning men? Is this legal?
I am asking because I am seriously considering starting an ESL (English Slave Labour) unit in Mongolia. Naturally, we would provide full room and board for any teachers who are interested in becoming a slave.
Please stay tuned for more details. |

Hello, everyone.
Joey, I agree 100% with you.
It is quite easy to tell who is lying and who is telling the truth.
Nyamsuren (whose short name is Nyamka, certainly not Surin as Nigel wrongly wrote it) is by far the best and most honest boss I have ever worked for in Ulaanbaatar.
She is a very caring and attentive person, always willing to help and do her best for the teachers she hires.
I know what I am talking about because I was the first teacher who started the Success training centre with her.
She never ripped me off, cared about students' learning and was the only one - as far as I know - to give some orphans the opportunity to take the course for free!
This alone tells you what kind of woman she is.
She would also buy me lunch, drinks, snacks and, what is uncommon for a private training centre, make the necessary arrangements to pay my salary twice a month just like in state schools.
She made the effort to pay a decent salary - more than $1000 - which was much more than what most training centres pay.
In short, she would just do everything she could to make her teachers' lives easier, once again, which is far from the norm, here.
Nyamsurem never ripped off anyone.
Actually, it is the other way around.
She has been ripped off by unscrupulous people who needed to get a work permit and a visa. After Nyamka did everything and when they finally got the documents they needed, these people just disappeared and left her.
How about that?
I don't think I need to comment on Nigel's allegations.
Joey has already answered in a very clear way.
She is in no way affiliated with the people of Santis, thank Goodness.
Having been around here for a while, I know that Mongolia does attract a fair amount of losers and mentally-deranged people, such as would-be (ham) actors, would-be scholars, mythomaniacs, whose life is a failure and who try to run away from their problems, but actually bring them along with them.
Such people are not prepared to do a decent teaching job, are ager to complain about everything at all, make no serious efforts to understand another culture and do have communication problems with anyone.
I have met quite a few, who have either walked out or been kicked out of all the schools in Ulaanbaatar. It seems like the list is gettting increasingly longer...
The most desperate cases hopefully left the country.
This is the case for Nigel aka Benedict, a person who made up a whole story, wrote slanderous comments about a very nice woman just because admitting being wrong, rude, inexperienced and hopeless was probably too difficult to do.
So, my conclusion 1 would be, for employers in Asia who are reading this: "Stay away from Nigel, a "teacher" you don't need to hire".
And my conclusion 2 would be :"Pay a visit to Nyamsuren at Success training centre and judge by yourself."
It is located in the Zoos Goyol building, opposite the huge Ulaanbaatar Bank building and opposite a small Khaan Bank local branch. |

Hello everyone!
This is my first post so forgive me if it doesn't work that great. I am just wondering if someone had contact information for the Success School. I am really interested in working there despite the allegations put forth by this Nigel fellow. So far, I have read many horror stories about other schools in Mongolia and Success School seems to be one of the best.
I will be graduating university in April and for the next few weekends I will be taking a TESL course to become certified. I would like to go to Mongolia as my first teaching experience. Although it's a bit of a risk - I've heard Mongolia can be very challenging at times - it's outside of the norm. I don't want to go to South Korea for my first experience, everyone does that it seems. Anyway, I was just wondering if this Success School would be a good starting point and whether or not they hire newbies such as myself. I've also heard lots of good things about smaller cities too, so if anyone has info on those areas too, that would be great! I know it's probably better to go to the country myself and then look around, but thats not exactly secure enough for me and I would like to get things sorted out before I actually go.
Thanks so much,
Derrick |

Hi, Derrick.
Thanks for your post.I am currently working again at Success, which is a small English School run by a great Mongolian lady who actually cares about students and teachers equally.I could quote a few comments from one of our teacher's report but I will leave that to him.
All I can say is that I enjoy what I am doing and so do our students.
Oh, of course, we aren't the big guns in UB, but I am proud to say that our students really learn something, here, and most importantly, maybe, they learn what they need to learn!
I have sent you a pm, so check your inbox.Cheers, dude. |

Aloha,
I've made the insane decision to move from the Big Island of Hawaii to Ulaanbaatar in the dead of winter. I must feel guilty about soaking up more than my fair share of perfect weather. My wife is Mongolian and we want to live near her family for a while.
I completed a TEFL course earlier this year and now I'm diving into the job search pool. Success School sounds like a very down to earth place and I'd love to get their contact info. Also any tips for job hunting in UB would be great. Time to retire the flip flops.
Bayarllaa,
Hutch |

This thread smacks of deceit, corruption, defecation, and various other unpleasantries. |
