For those interested in growing their own organic veggies and contributing to reforestation in Mexico City:

Check out their calendario de actividades, they have a good number of workshops scheduled for the rest of the year.

I like the fruits and veggies I find at Wal-Mart.

They are the best store in Mexico and thankfully they have helped to lower prices throughout Mexico while improving service and quality.

Thanks so much for posting this, Milenka. I've been researching for an article on organic Oaxaca that I'm going to pitch, but maybe I'll expand it to organic Mexico.

Gracias,

Serena

Here's something else to check out:

La Granja Organica delivers organic veggies to neighborhoods in Mexico City. I'm going to try it out as soon as I get more organized.

It looks very interesting, Milenka, but since I have no access to any place where I could start a garden, I'll have to do with the non-organic veggies and fruties at my local Superama. However, I would be interested in participating in a program that works on reforestation in Mexico City. I've been a "tree-hugger" for a long time!

This is fantastic. Just this last week I went to Mercado Jamaica and bought green bean and tomatoe seeds. MO39, do you not have access to your roof? I asked for permission to start a garden up there and was given it...anyway I'm pretty excited about it.

I also bought two big buckets and have put holes in the bottom, as well as dirt. They sell everything at this market, it's great. Carrying it back on the metro, however, was awful.

Jamaica is a fabulous market...I've been going there for years to get my plants, flowers, and pots.

Where is the Jamaica market? Near the Jamaica Metro Station?

Good guess! Just watch the exit you take as one leads from the light blue line. From the brown line side, it opens up right next to the market.
